A beautiful Wednesday evening in mid-September can only mean one thing: the midweek has begun! Full of enthusiasm, ten Vakgerichters traveled to the picturesque town of Vriezenveen to take on Amicitia. Because the home team’s outfit is predominantly white, the students brought their splendid away kits with them, which generated varying levels of enthusiasm.
We were certainly impossible to miss on the field, and after a somewhat unexpectedly short warm-up, we kicked off a friendly match. It took a while for the first point to fall, but the home team opened the scores. However, Vakgericht refused to be discouraged, and with very long attacks, the visitors also scored. The match was in balance, and Vakgericht kept the defense nice and tight. However, Amicitia managed to score several times from long range, and Vakgericht racked up a lot of deflections, giving the home team a narrow lead going into the second half.
After a refreshing glass of lemonade, we kicked off the second half, and the game was evenly matched once more. Despite making some tactical substitutions between the zones, these didn’t yield the extra points we’d hoped for. Amicitia maintained their lead, which resulted in a 10-7 score. We can look back on a great match and congratulate Amicitia on their victory.
